Lots of story writing

I am going through a phase of writing stories. I love to use the laptop to write my stories on. I have several different ways of writing a story. Sometimes I write it all myself, sometimes I like to sit on Äiti's lap and write and other times I get Äiti to type what I am saying. I spell out every word to her- it can take quite a while to write a story this way! Sometimes I get a little annoyed when I can't think how to spell a word so Äiti helps me out occasionally by saying the word slowly or by just writing it for me! I also love changing the fonts...as you'll see!

Story 1. Äiti wrote 'Here is a story about catswell' and spelt out 'Turkish' for me. The story- All the cats are fun to play with. I took Turkish Van (a breed of cat) to Catswell (imaginary world) to sea all the cats. He was sad. the big scary mouth ate him. He said "mmmmmm, nice tasty cat".

Story 2- To sore paw Bouncy. Bouncy had a sore paw. he sat on a chair for a long time. He wanted a piccy of his sore toe. A big tiger ate him. He was all better. He had a sore ear. It was not all better. he went to bed. When he woke up he was all better".

Story 3- This was written sitting on aiti's knee, typed by me though. Story- "To Mog. Mog is stuck up there for a long time. His poo is stuck up there for a long long long long time. Mog is fun to play with. I pick Mog up gently. He said prrrrrr. Mog had a cuppa (English slang for cuppa tea). He fell off his chair and hurt him self"

Story 4- I dictated this to Äiti, I spelt out every word, if Äiti wrote the word incorrectly I would correct her. This isn't a story but a song so you must sing it! I also wrote it under my pseudonym of ' Ceta Cheetah' who is 4 years old! It says "All the fish were going into the octopus cave. They did not want to touch him. The went on the ray and they got off and said 'balalalal etc'. All the fish were starting to cry. They swam so fast that the tails bang the coral and the cats."

My trip to Seattle

I am now home after being away in Seattle. I had an excellent time there, we did so much and saw so much. I made loads of new friends, had a great birthday party and saw loads.

Daddy really enjoyed his Microsoft conference (the main reason for going) and Äiti enjoyed meeting up with all her virtual friends, she has 'known' the other mums for about 2years now from an internet board she posts on.

Here are all my friends at the party. One of Äiti's friends organised the whole Cat/Fish themed party. The whole house looked great, there were fish hanging from the ceiling, fish on the windows, cat puzzles, cat books, fish and cat cakes etc. We played games, ate yummy food, did some art and jumped on the couch! I slept very well that night!

As a group we also all went to the Aquarium, it was a great aquarium...so great that I went back later in the week! We also went to Seattle zoo where I saw gorillas, orang-utans, leopards, jaguars and many other animals. I got to visit the library in Seattle too, it was an impressive building with a huge range of kids books. I enjoyed sharing a book with Amelia and Cecily. I also went to several bookshops where I read hundreds of books.

I went with Lorena and her mummy to the Science Center. Lorena and I had fun in the butterfly display. We both also loved the dinosaurs.

On the weekend we went with Amelia and her family to Canada...my 17th country! Äiti drove us all over in a huge mini-van, we had to get two ferries to get to Victoria BC. We visited another aquarium that was on a boat, it was a little odd but I saw some fantastic starfish and octopus. I had a great night with Amelia and Oliver whilst Äiti, Daddy, Lorraine and Mary stayed up late!

My Lemons!

Last week I 'needed' a lemon from Tesco's. I named him Knobbly. Knobbly was lonely, so this week I added 'Lemony' to my collection! I have played with the two lemons, talked to them, interacted with them and had lots of fun. Äiti is threatening to cut one up to flavour a drink! I made up a little story about my lemons...

The idea of a lemon shaped book was my idea as was the story content. I also added all the page numbers. I wrote everything in yellow as lemons are....yellow! The spellings (apart from Knobbly) are my own.

Front page...äiti wrote this...Page 2 and 3- A picture of Knobbly (name written underneath)

Page 4- Knobbly fell over and hurt his tummy- the red on his tummy is the 'hurt'. The writing says 'Knobbly hurt his tummy'. Page 5- 'He went up'. Picture is an airplane- the grey window is where Knobbly is sitting, he has pulled the window blind down as the sun was in his eyes!

Page 6/7. Knobbly is in the garden of his mum's house. His tummy is still hurting (the red). He is excited (open happy mouth). His mum's house is just over there. She has a green door with a letter box.

Page 8/9- 'He went to see his Äiti (mum'). His mum is Lemony. Knobbly is sad as his tummy still hurts, he is crying and rubbing his tears away. Page 10- 'His äiti cuddled (cudr) him' Knobbly is now happy!

My half-term holiday

I didn't have to go to school this week as it was half term. I missed school a lot even though I did lots of fun things.

Emily and I went to an open farm, we got to feed the goats and the deers. We also got to stroke the donkeys, see the pigs, rabbits, chicks and chickens. There was also a play park that Emily and I played in.

I also went to the rainforest! We have a 'living rainforest' quite close to our house. I spent the morning there looking at leaves, sting ray, pythons, frogs, caterpillars, butterflies, pygmy marmosets and chameleons. I had a great time. I spent a while in the shop reading the books. It was a fun morning. For lunch, äiti took me into town where I had a sandwich. She then let me choose a shop to go to, so I went to the bookshop and spent an hour reading books.

I also got to go swimming. I have lost a lot of swimming confidence recently so have gone back to using a woggle. I went to the library too.

I also saw Granny Val and Michael, they came round to see me with a birthday present. We had a little party, I got to eat all my favourite foods- olives, flat-fish burgers, smarties, hula hoops and chocolate finger biscuits! Yummy! I had a little birthday cake which was a caterpillar, I don't like cake so I picked the chocolate off and ate that instead!

Here I am making my imaginary 'Catswell' village. Catswell is a place where my cats all live, there is a swimming pool there, a zoo and lots of other things. I have made tickets to get to Catswell and built it out of Lego. I go to Catswell quite often, here I am sitting in the dark playing as it was night time there.

The Periodic Table

Daddy is a self confessed geek! He saw something on a TV programme recently that he just HAD to have....a periodic table shower curtain! So he bought it and it now hangs, in all it's multi-coloured glory, in the main bathroom!

Daddy's side of the family are all Sciencey, so I hope they like this video... the video was made as a joke, not because daddy has decided to teach me genetic engineering!

My Aquarium and school update

Daisy's mummy had a a great idea the other day...Äiti felt a bit daft for not thinking of it herself, but...I made a fab aquarium. I got an old box, all my paints, my 'bits and pieces' box, my scissors and my Tropical Fish magazine. I painted pasta shells, stuck on bits of rice, raided the recycling box and cut out bits of my magazine. This was the finished result...

Aiti helped me spell 'Aquarium'. I thought my Q looked like a Ray, so I added a few more details to my sign. In the aquarium you can see a 'nook' (yoghurt pot) for the moray eel, rice for the krill that my whale will eat, lots of seaweed and coral, sea bed, flat fish on the sea bed and shells that I got when I went to Daisy's house. I used the pasta shells for the hermit crabs to live in.

I had a great day at school today. I read my 'Hermie the Hermit Crab' story to the class. I got a sticker from Mrs B (a Year 2 teacher) for reading so well. I made some lovely biscuits at school for Valentine's day; they were quite tasty! I also made a card for daddy and aiti. I joined in all my lessons this week and even sang a bit in music!

My first hand-written story

Here are some things that I did today... The first picture is of a story I wrote. It says "One day Tiger slept. He got up and said meow. by Sophie 2". Äiti told me about finger spaces so I put dots between the words! All the spellings are my own. This is my first ever hand-written story. I am really proud of my story.

The next picture is where I wanted to write some numbers. Äiti left me to it and when she came back I'd written up to 20 plus the words 'Mog Cat'. The typed story is one that I dictated to Äiti. It isn't very good but I kept telling äiti off for spelling words incorrectly. I told her which words I wanted in BOLD and that I wanted ... added. I knew when I needed plurals and when I needed a word changed.

I had a great weekend, I saw my friend Sylvie. We went to a big indoor playcentre. I had loads of fun pretending the whole climbing structure was an undersea world. I loved looking in the 'nooks and crannies'. Sylvie gave me a lovely present of some more Schleich animals. I have played with them lots.

Some new writing and school update

I couldn't go to school on Tuesday as I wasn't very well, I had been quite sick so Äiti said I had to stay at home. I was very upset and told Äiti that I wanted to do school things. She let me play on the laptop and this is what I did. I would tell Äiti what picture I wanted, we would then look for it on Google Images, I would then write a sentence about each picture. Sometimes Äiti would say a word slowly so that I could hear the sounds, but mainly this is my own work. I was really pleased with myself.

I only got to go to school twice this week but I had 2 great days. We have to go to another classroom for music every week, normally I sit and listen and don't join in. This week though I got up and did all the actions and according to Mrs G, I even sang! Äiti looked a little stunned when Mrs G told her. I made a penguin this week and drew some houses, the letter of the week was H. I am now really good at writing the letter h.

I'm looking forward to this weekend as I am going to see Sylvie again, I'm hoping she brings Catty.

My trip to Scotland

On Friday night we all went on an airplane to Edinburgh. We had rented an apartment with Granny and Papa, Auntie Cat and Noel. I spent most of Saturday being very tired and very whingy, Äiti didn't think my behaviour was good, but Granny and Papa thought it was fine! After a pizza lunch we went to an aquarium, this was excellent as it had loads of sharks, rays and seals. I was good at naming the all the fish. Back at the apartment we all watched the England-Wales rugby game, I entertained myself for 2 hours as I'm not overly interested in men playing with funny oval balls! Aiti and daddy went out for dinner with some friends in the evening so Granny and Papa babysat for me, I went to bed without any problems.

On Sunday Daddy went to Murrrayfield to watch Scotland lose their rugby match to France. I went on the train to my friend Daisy's house. We had a lot of fun walking round their local town, looking for shells on the beach and playing at her house. Daisy has 2 little sisters called Ruby (nearly 2yrs) and baby Isla who is 2 weeks old. I wasn't too happy when Aiti held Isla! Daisy and I played very well together, we were quite influential on each other. On the train home I talked non-stop about Daisy and I'd really like to see her again.

We flew home late Sunday evening, I eventually fell asleep in the car at 11pm.

The first picture was a diagram I drew and labelled for Äiti. I was showing her something we'd done at school...we had eggs and soldiers (toast) because we were learning about the letter E. The middle photo is me making an obstacle course for myself and any willing cats. I used daddy's cable hiders and I had to jump over them or race the cats. The last photo is just a cute one of my cats. Sometimes they love each other, other times they fight lots!

My Finished Coral Reef...and a school update

I have finally finished my Coral Reef picture. I have been adding to it over the last few days. As you can see there are now two crabs on the sea bed, ac lam (wiggly thing), a sleeping whale and a turtle. I have added in the dolphin's bottle nose and a few extra fish including sail fin tangs. I really like my picture.

I went to school today and had an excellent time. I answered my name in the register (roll call) again, I got myself completely undressed for Dance and got into my dance kit and then...... I took part in the dance lesson. I had to be a grasshopper´and I really enjoyed it. Mrs G, my teacher, was really pleased with me. This week we are learning about the letter E...I am going to draw an Eagle Spotted ray as it begins with an E. I said to Äiti "I particularly enjoyed school today".

My First Joke!

I started telling jokes today. I was in the car when I started saying "why do yogurt pots have big ears...because they are pretending to be elephants".

Here is a quick video of me telling some of my jokes,I think you'll find them very funny! There is a translation underneath, I have a cold at the moment so sound very stuffy.

What did the octopus have 10 shoes....because they didn't fit on him and they were too big. Why do yogurts have very tall buildings...they build up trees. Two dolphins swimming in a tank, one turns to the other and the other says 'how can we drive this thing'.

Not a lot else to report from today, I went to Sainsbury's and then to the bookshop.

As you can see Äiti has changed the look of this blog, I chose the colours! Today also saw the 4000th person visit this blog. The person came from Dunbarton, New Hampshire...not Scotland! The 2000th and the 3000th visitor was from Seattle and called Lorraine, I'm going to meet her in a few weeks time!

A fishy weekend!

I have had a great weekend so far! After I'd eaten a big breakfast, had a long bath and got dressed, I was asked if I wanted to go to the aquarium. We drove to Portsmouth, had lunch and then went to see the fish. It was excellent. I love fish so much, especially Rays of all sorts (manta, eagle spotted, stingray) and clown fish. I got to see Black tipped reef sharks, porcupine fish, box fish (which I thought should be renamed cube fish). I saw the huge octopus, the monster carp, the otters and turtles. It was a great visit and it was made even better by daddy buying me my own clown fish!

I came home and drew my clown fish....

I then drew on my whiteboard a whole coral reef... from the top...Bottlenose dolphin (with blowhole), Leopard moray eel, Black tipped reef shark (with black tips), baby jelly fish, mother jellyfish, seahorse, Eagle spotted ray, Panther grouper x 2, Clown fish, baby manta ray, 2 more Groupers, starfish and octopus!

At home Äiti made me a flat fish veggie burger with coral reef broccoli, coral carrots and peas for my dinner! I was also allowed to watch Finding Nemo...I tried to name all the fish and sea creatures.

I wrote a letter to daddy

I wrote daddy a letter today and put it in an envelope for him, here it is. It says "To daddy, I lov(e) yo(u), by Sophie xx". He liked his letter.

I also drew a daddy sphynx cat holding its kitten. Sphynx cats are hairless cats and don't have whiskers- so I didn't draw them!

I've had a great week at school, I read to Mrs G and to the class, I answered my name in the register correctly and I am upset as I want to go tomorrow, but it isn't a school day. I made crispy cakes at school, painted lots of things and played loads. I have been skipping into school in the mornings. I can now even take off my school uniform on my own, the button on my shirt were hard but I can do them now, the kilt was a bit tricky but I have mastered that too.

Today Äiti managed to get me on video today. The first video is of me reading. This was my first read ever of the book.

I can see something shining said Splash and he swam towards the sparkles thinking it was a star.....The more the baby dolphin swam around, the more shiny creatures he saw swimming and spinning in the water...he swam through an underwater garden of swirling seaweed and shimmering shells. He even swam past a pile of pirate treasure....Hello baby dolphin what brings you here she asked, but splash felt very shy. He didn’t know what to say... In that case you can have it because you are very kind said the mermaid and she handed the shining star to Splash...Splash gave his mummy the star and she was pleased. Together they played with it all day long.

Playful Little kitten...Sockily’s playful little kitten ...Spinning round and round and round and he went next time....Swimming to his little splash, hmmmmmm hmmmmmm...And there is lots of socks, there are 10 socks there and Sockily is far away from his mother. And Sockily doesn’t know what to do and he rode back home to his daddy and äiti at their house.....There, that is a nice little sockily song, No, I’ll do another song. Sockily’s nice little playful kitten...Sockily’s nice little playful kitten, he looks very happy...blah blah blah

My 100th post!

Wow, it was nearly a year ago that I started this blog, in the last 10 months I have written 100 posts. It has been a lot of fun and I will keep going a while longer! Thank you to everyone who has read my ramblings, I love reading the comments and I have enjoyed sharing the day to day happenings of me!

So, for today's rambling....
When I went to Sylvie's house I fell in love with her abacus and I just had to have one, so for Christmas I got one, my very own abacus...I was so happy! Here is a video of me doing some simple sums on it....

Finally, this afternoon I have been very busy, I built (with a bit of help) a train track, the track was running round my zoo. I needed water so I had to paint some paper blue, I needed a boat (which doubled up as a cat box), so I painted an old shoe box. The toilet paper is the ice lands where the polar bear lives. I did make a desert out of a yellow blanket too. The boat spent ages going backwards and forwards to the train line where the trains would take the new animals on a tour of the zoo.... I was kept amused for hours!

Á fun weekend and some updates.

This weekend we went up to see Aiti and daddy's friends- Sarah and Pip. Sarah and Pip have a lovely Labradoodle dog called Ripley. I was very well behaved in the evening and even went to sleep there- aiti and daddy drank too much so we had to stay the night. This morning we all went for a big breakfast at the local cafe, I had beans and eggs. Itwas a good weekend.

On Friday I went to the doctors, I haven't been well in about a month so Aiti decided it was time to get be checked out. I had to be weighed- I weighed in at 26lbs fully clothed, with shoes on and severe constipation! The doctor gave me some nice medicine and I am feeling much lighter now!

I've also just hit the 400 book mark at the library, that means I have read over 400 different books in 6 months.

My new cat...and a school update!

A few days ago we got a new cat, I have names him Marmalade. He is a Bengal-Maine Coon cross and he is lovely. He is only 3.5months old and looks tiny compared to Tiger. Tiger and Marmalade are getting used to each other, they like to play fight a lot...normally it is Marmalade that starts it!

School is OK, I haven't cried yet. I am beginning to talk to people and was seen laughing today! I got a sticker yesterday for a drawing that I did, I stood up in front of the whole class (all 6 girls) and talked about my picture.

Here I am being silly! Yes, those are my trousers on my head!
