The Cat Show

This weekend I went to The National Cat Club Show. There were over 500 cats to look at. All the cats were being judged and some even won rosettes. I loved looking at the Bengals, the Maine-Coons, Burmese, Persians, Tonkinese and Russian Blues. I even got to see a Turkish Van cat. I took my Turkish Van to see his mummy and daddy! Daddy liked the Norwegian Forest Cats, they weren't as big as the Maine-Coons though. After looking at all the cats we looked at all the things you could buy for them. We spent nearly 3 hours looking at the cats and talking to their owners. I came away wanting a Tonkinese, Daddy would quite like a Maine Coon and Äiti would like a Burmese!
When we got home we played a few games, I have discovered Jenga- it is a lot of fun! After dinner I went on my scooter. I am trying out Äiti's old one, it has two wheels and goes fast. It was my first try on it today so I was a bit slow to begin with. After an hour I was quite speedy and great!

My New Maths Interest

I have a new interest, it is multiplication! I know my 10 times tables inside out, my 1 times table (which is very easy) and some 2, 3, 4 and 5 times. I also know a few random other sums. I only got interested last weekend. I like firing random sums at Äiti or Daddy in the car or at home. I also ask for sums on a daily basis.
Here is a video of me doing some basic multiplication.

Ill

I'm not very well at the moment. I am now on anti-biotics for an eye infection and a mild ear and chest infection. I'm also back on a huge dose of lactolose. I really did not want to go to the doctors today, I even had to be carried to the car and then into the doctors, I was not happy!

I spent the afternoon watching Madagascar on the sofa, I would like to go to the cinema to see Madagascar 2 when it comes out next month.

The only other exciting bit of news is that we now have a cat flap for the cats to go in and out. Äiti spent a long time today drilling a cat sized hole into the back door. The cats are not very sure of it yet so we are bribing them with ham to come back in. I spent long time this afternoon coaxing them in and out!

A new bedroom!

This weekend was very exciting as I got a new bedroom! I swapped my little bedroom with daddy's office. I had already chosen a bright colour for one of my walls. I choose 'Azure Blue 2' as my colour. I even got to watch the paint being made in Homebase. Äiti painted my wall and it looked really good. It took a long time to move everything between the two rooms. I now have a huge, empty bedroom but I am going to share with Tabby when she gets here. After moving my bedroom around we all went out for some very yummy Thai food. I had already had my dinner, but I did eat rather a lot of prawn crackers, rice and carrots! I was also very polite to everyone in the restaurant.

Last week was busy. I had 3 mornings of school, gymnastics, swimming and 2 playdates. I went to see my friend Kayne, we had to leave early as I wasn't very well behaved. On Friday I saw Emily who lives round the corner. I enjoyed myself there. I also went to the library and got out even more books. I wanted a book on foetal development, but there wasn't one. We looked in Borders today and couldn't find one either. I went to Mothercare to get new school shirts, I then spent rather a long time looking at baby toys, push chairs and baby clothes for Tabby.

Äiti's note: Tabby is very much an imaginary sister that Sophie thinks she is getting....very imaginary!

A biology lesson

I made this the other day...
It doesn't look very impressive, any guesses as to what I made?

An umbilical cord with food and air in it (white straight with yellow blocks)
An egg (green circle)
Sperm (green squares)
Boobies (red quares)
Tummy Button- where the umbilical cord joins (blue)

Lorraine and Me!

Lorraine came to visit us all the way from America! We had so much fun playing and chatting together. I first met Lorraine last March when we went on holiday to Seattle, since then she and Äiti have kept in contact and become great friends. I showed Lorraine around the house, then we all took her out for a curry. It was then quite late so I had to go to bed, but Lorraine, Daddy and Äiti stayed up very late, they looked very tired the next morning. We really enjoyed having Lorraine here and I hope we can see her again soon.

Here is a video of Lorraine and I playing together.

More maths

Here is a video of me doing some big sums.

2 + 1 is 3 isn’t it? cough cough, that was the hoover again, 2+3 is 5 isn’t it, there we go, 6+2, a hard one, 6+2, got 6 in my head, 6, 7, oh i know what it is... 8! I’ve got a butterfly – 8!
3+2 is like 2+3 and 3+2, 3+2 has to be 5, now 2+2 is 4, 1+2 is 3
2, 4, 4..... oh yes!

All I want for Christmas is ....

a baby sister! Yep, that's right, not a kitten or a new toy, but a baby sister!

I am going to teach her how to talk and read, and to learn her colours, letters and numbers. I have this all planned. Tabby (my name for her) can sleep in my old cot though I will let her sleep in my bed sometimes. She can drink milk as we have lots in the fridge and then she can eat soup when she is bigger. I can help change her nappy but I'd want to use lots of baby wipes. I want to take her swimming, she'll have to use a baby seat though as she wont be able to swim like me- they have orange baby seats at Cannons. We need to buy Tabby a few more baby books that I will read to her, we can go to Borders to get those. I'll let her use my old buggy and car seat as she needs to face backwards. I saw some tiny baby clothes in Tescos that I thought she might like, they were very soft with polar bears on.

I'm very excited about my new baby sister. I was talking to Äiti's tummy and told Tabby to "move out of the ovary room and into the uterus". Tabby will then hatch out the egg and start to grow and grow and grow. She'll need the umbilical hosepipe to get air and food and drinks. Then, when she is bigger she will push her way out of Äiti and I will then have my new baby sister.

Äiti says she'll see what she can do, but I may have to wait a very long while.

My Weekend

I've had a busy weekend. On Saturday I went to a new country called Wales- I only went for an hour but I still walked on Welsh ground! We then went to IKEA to buy some new bedroom furniture for me as I am swapping rooms with daddy's office. We came away with nothing except a big crab (bought with my sticker reward chart points) and some fish mats!
On Saturday evening it was Bonfire Night so we went to a display to watch the fireworks. I was very excited as I'd seen some fireworks out of the window earlier in the week. It was raining hard but I was quite dry until someone spilt a whole pint of beer into the hood of my new jacket. The beer ran down my neck and back, it was horrible and I cried. Then the fireworks started and I screamed. We watched them from the car, they were very pretty but I didn't like the noise.
On Sunday we all went swimming at a pool near my school. I wore my goggles again and tried to dive down to the bottom of the pool to get my 'sinking seals'. I managed a forward roll in the water which is a new thing for me. I also swam two lengths (50meters) of the pool because daddy did! In the afternoon Äiti went to meet her friend Lorraine who was over from Seattle, she got back very late! I went to the Rainforest with daddy and saw all the plants and animals. Daddy and I made a butterfly mosaic in the evening.
Last week I went to my new school 3 times, I am having a lot of fun and really enjoying it. I like both my Nursery and Year 1 class. I have been getting reading books to read at home and sometimes I get some maths to do. I love getting work to do.

Marmalade's birthday

Today it was Marmalade's birthday. He is now 1. I have been preparing for his birthday for a while now. Today at dinner time Marmalade had a party. I had made a poster telling all the toys and animals where the party was going to be and at what time. I had bought him some presents, a card and made him a large chocolate cake. I added a lot of candles and some model cats to his cake. I picked out some party cups and plates for him too.

We ate our dinner (which I got to choose and helped cook), then we had some cake with candles and then Marmalade got to open his presents. He got a box of cat biscuits and some new toy balls. He was very happy. The cake was very very yummy!

Here are some pictures of Marmalade's 1st birthday.

My new school

On Monday I started my new school. I have named my school 'Fish School' on account of it having a lovely big ocean mural painted outside my classroom.

I was quite excited about starting my new school so wasn't nervous. Daddy dropped me off and then Aiti picked me up. I skipped out of school shouting 'Fish school is fishtastic'. On my first day I started off in Nursery and then after assembly I went to Year 1 and did some Literacy. I wrote about what I did in the holidays. I then read to my teacher and then we all went to the library. I then went back to Nursery as it was time for French class. I then played a lot and then Äiti picked me up. I had some maths work to do at home, I was meant to do a few pages but I did the whole book!

Today I went back to Fish School (I only go 3 mornings a week). I started off again in Nursery and then after assembly I went to Year 1 again for some maths. I read again to my teacher, did some work and then went back to Nursery. I made a rocket today with lots of glue and sparkles! I stayed for lunch today and then Aiti picked me up after I'd had a good play outside.

I am making lots of friends, I am known by quite a lot of the other children and I really like my teachers. Äiti and Daddy are really happy that I am enjoying it and doing well.

Kayne and me

Here is a video of Kayne and me having fun at the park. I like Kayne a lot.

Natural History Museum

I had a very long day out at the Natural History Museum today. We got the train and then the tube to the museum. We started off looking at all the birds and then we moved onto the mammals. I saw all the animals I wanted to see- manatees, red pandas, polar bears, dolphins and fish! We then had some lunch which I didn't eat. Äiti got cross with me for not eating quickly...and then she tried some of my food. I didn't have to eat anymore after that!

We then went back to the mammals section, the sea creatures and the primates. I loved looking at the skulls of people. Daddy then went to the dinosaur exhibition which I didn't want to go to so I went and looked in the Human Body section. I was very interested in the baby section and I now know a whole lot more about how babies develop. I even got to stand in a giant uterus! I then went to the shop and tried to spend some money. We then walked back to the tube and came home.

Here are some photos of me on the tube with my newly acquired Burmese Python. Burmese Pythons are very good at swimming!
