Aiti wrote this on her board, so I thought I share how I spent my day yesterday.
A day in the life of Sophie!According to Sophie she woke at 6 something, she stayed in her room drawing shapes (why? no idea) and proudly brought us a few sheets of ovals, diamonds, hexagons etc at 7.10am. After breakfast she watched a bit of TV (Bob the Builder, Numberjacks) before we got dressed. We had to go into town today for some bits, neither of us like shopping so we promised each other we'd be quick. Over breakfast she asked her first ever 'deep' question, "how old do you have to be to die?" I answered truthfully.
In town we managed to get everything we wanted surprisingly easily. I got Sophie a new Nintendo DS game, she picked 'Dolphin Island', we then went to the camping shop and got an airbed for our upcoming camping trip...I am not sleeping on a therma-rest! We then went to a charity shop (Oxfam) and found some more 'Mr Men' books. We then went to Starbucks for a 'babyccino' (aka warm milk with chocolate sprinkles) and a cup of tea so that Sophie could start her new game. After I'd caught up on email via my phone and Sophie was done playing the DS we went to the supermarket where Sophie sat inside the shopping trolley and continued to play the DS. This made for a quick trip round and I wasn't badgered for gingerbread!
Back at home she ate all her lunch (cheese sandwich and some apple and cucumber) in record slow time. She then got out her 'bits and pieces' box and proceeded to make a variety of things including a flag. The flag poles were the wooden stirrers you get from Starbucks (she'd pinched a few, read handful). She also made a car and some paper food. This involved lots of pots and pans and several wine glasses! Once she was done making things she pulled out a few musical instruments and she made a um, noise! This then led her to ask for her piano keyboard so we went upstairs and she pretended to play the piano. She then put the piano on 'demo' mode and leaped about on her bed counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. I thought it was a perfect teaching moment so gave her some sums...she turned the music up, thus ending my teachable moment! lol
She then found a yellow blanket, changed into a pair of shorts (just shorts), picked up a computer mouse and a Playstation controller and ran round the house being controlled! Daddy then came home and she made him walk like all the symbols on the controller!
We then had a game of Snakes and Ladders, which she won by cheating. "I just have to win" she declared and moved her piece on when I wasn't looking.
We then went into the garden where she became a tuna fish and later a salmon! I had to catch her with the yellow blanket (now a net) and put her in a tin can! She spent some time practising leaping off the top of her slide wearing her blanket, she played football with the cat until he got the ball, bit it, punctured it and then tried to drag it through the cat flap! She also played in her sand tray, lobbed a hoop round the garden and ran away from flies!
It was then time for me to do dinner. Thursdays tend to be 'Sophie can pick night', so she'd picked pizza. She hates pizza so this was a surprise! She played with her vet surgery and on the DS whilst I sorted dinner. I lovingly cut her pizza into the shape of a cat knowing full well she wouldn't eat it...olives for eyes, nose etc! I called her to the table to which she shouted 'I don't like pizza, I'm not going to eat it'. "Fine" Daddy said, "bed then". She came to the table and with the help of some tomato ketchup she demolished the entire pizza for the first time ever! After dinner, DH cleared away, loaded the dishwasher etc whilst I check my site. Sophie decided to draw glasses- eye glasses not wine glasses! We'd taken Great Granny to the opticians a few days ago and she was quite interested in the racks of glasses. She drew square ones, oval ones, hexagon ones etc.
We then all went to the play park, Sophie scooted there to burn off some extra energy. She practised sliding down the 30ft slide on her front, standing on a swing and leaping off anything. Back at home we fed the ants (we have an ant farm), fed the cats and she had a drink. She then turned her beaker into a 'fart machine' and made interesting noises by suctioning her face into the beaker!
Then we headed upstairs where I supervised her getting ready for bed. She picked a new book to read (a Mr Men book) and read that to Daddy. He then read her a few chapters of an Animal Ark book. He left her room at about 8pm and she read herself to sleep by about 9pm. We didn't need to go back up to see her.
So a busyish day. She was in a great mood all day which was just what we needed after a horrendous day yesterday. She was full of a lot of energy and spent the entire afternoon in constant motion.
