My first day at school!

Today I went to school and I quite enjoyed it. We left the house at 8am so that I could be there for 8.40am. I met my classroom assistant and said goodbye to Aiti and Daddy. Aiti picked me up at 11.50am and took me for lunch. I told Aiti that I had drawn a picture of a snow leopard, written my name, refused my snack and milk, been to my PE lesson which was dance. I got undressed and changed into my PE kit and tracksuit, but didn't join in the dance lesson. I sung a few songs and I found some numbers. I didn't cry once either! I am looking forward to going back tomorrow. I was so tired at the end that I could barely walk and had to have a nap!

Opa's 60th Birthday

It was Opa's 60th Birthday last weekend. Opa and Saskia came over from Amsterdam to stay with us for a few days. Aiti and Saskia arranged a small surprise party for Opa. It was fun even though I wasn't very well at all. I fell asleep in the restaurant and then kept drifting off to sleep all evening...I had a very high temperature and cough.
Here are some photos of the day... Photo 1 shows most of the Q family. Photo 2 shows 4 generations- me, aiti, Opa and my Great Granny. Photo 3 is me asleep on the restaurant floor!

Here is a photo of Opa and I. Opa is a Typographer...he designs fonts/type. Here we are doing a drawing of my toy otter. Opa drew me lots of pictures and letters. I gave him my very own Sophie QC font in multi-colours!

Happy New Year...and my first book!

Happy New Year to all those that read my ramblings! Yesterday (New Years Eve) we went to London to meet with a friend from Finland. I got to go to Hamleys, eat Chinese food and go to a huge bookshop. We got the train home which was fun too. Aiti and daddy stayed up late and drank too much wine. I was ever so nice and gave them a lie in until 9am....this is unheard of normally!

Today I made my first ever book- I am so proud of it. I wrote it all myself though Aiti helped with some spellings, I stuck the pages together with sellotape and I illustrated it myself. I also remembered to write page numbers on each page. I added two more pages after I'd finished it.

Page 1- Cat by Sophie. Page 2/3- Korat cat in a garden, fish in pond. Page 5-One day a snow leopard went out. It was cold. Page 6/7 Rosie (written) cat in her garden saying "meow". Rosie is eating olives (circles on ground). Her own spellings this time.Page 8- The End. Page 9- Tiger cat showing his spots. Page 10- Mog Cat swims. Mog is wearing arm bands, he is happy as he is multi-coloured.

Here is a cat that I made out of playdoh...

Christmas 2007

Thank you to all my friends and relatives that sent me Christmas presents, I was a very lucky girl this Christmas.

Aiti and daddy gave me a personalised jigsaw, they had taken a photo of all my toys and had the photo turned into a 96pc wooden jigsaw, it is great. I also got an abacus, new playdoh, animal encyclopedia and new pens. From my relatives and friends I got loads of Scheich model animals, books, jigsaws, stickers, night light, alphabet lion, swimming towel etc. One of the best presents though was Aiti's 'Rush Hour' game, I seem to have played it more than her. I also really like my letter printing stamps that Opa sent me, I can stamp words with them.

Here is a video of me playing it...

My Granny and Papa came to stay over Christmas. Papa is a very keen bird watcher and there was a bird nearby that he had never seen before. We all had great fun playing in the park that the Parakeets were in. Papa has now seen 387 different birds in the UK, he has seen tons more though around the world.

Here I am in the park...

My trip to Egypt and Jordan

I have just got back from a great holiday to Egypt. We stayed at a great hotel called the Movenpick-Taba, it had lots of swimming pools and a beach. I had to go on an airplane to get there.

I got to ride on a camel, it was a lot of fun. The camel man put my meerkat on the camel's head!

I went on a glass bottomed boat twice. I learnt loads of fish names and when I couldn't remember the names, I just made them up so some fish were called 'red stripped purple fin fish'. Daddy went diving one day so I drew him in his diving kit with flippers. Aiti took me snorkeling one day with my arm bands on but the water was very cold so I only swam with one little fish! (pictures- our boat, a ribbon fish with baby, daddy with his flippers, a lionfish, fish by the coral with jelly fish (and cat)).

Here are some of the other fish I saw on the coral reefs. Aiti took me snorkeling one day with my arm bands on but the water was very cold so I only swam with one little fish!

I also went to a stone city called Petra, all the houses were in the mountain rocks. I loved the pink and purple rocks and stones. I walked nearly 4 miles around Petra but I did get to go on a horse the last half mile, that was fun.

I really wanted to see a dolphin, Sphynx pussycats and Egyptian Mau cats. Daddy bought me a little wooden cat that I have named 'Mauly'...as in Egyptian Mau!

Here are some photos of my holiday....

New drawings and video

Here are some drawings I did this week...

One is a monkey and the other is a cat. I wrote Thank you though Aiti gave me the spellings!
Here is a video of me doing my jigsaw, it is only 48pc and it takes me 5 minutes. Aiti has edited the video so you dont get the full 5 mins! She will add a translation too..

Please can we take this to the sand cat. I want to take this to show the sand cats.
“Come back, come back” shouted the pandas, “yes” they said. That’s the baby and that’s the daddy.
I want to take this one to Emily’s house. Emily might like this one because its got bears and pandas. I want to take it to Emily’s house.
Which bit am I having aiti… this bit with the leopard. This is the leopard and he likes to leap, leap and leap and leap and leap etc. Leap leap leap!
What are sphynxes called? No not sphinxes, just sphynx cats because they love to eat toys. Do you think sphynx cats love to eat toys.
Oh 2 bits missing, no, where are they? I wasn’t sitting on them at all. Please can I do another before we go to the vets?
I had a lovely afternoon today as I went to Emily's house for a Christmas party. We made Christmas trees, decorated gingerbread trees and ate loads of food. Emily ate about 18 mini sausages, I ate at least 8 chicken dippers! We swapped presents and I loved mine, I showed daddy straight away.

I went to school today!

I went to school today for my introductory morning and I loved it! We had to leave the house at 8am to get there in time. I chatted the whole way about new puzzles, books and writing. Aiti and I have different ideas about school as she just wants me to make friends and have fun!
The first activity was making pictures out of magnetic shapes, I made a cat! I told Mrs G what I'd made and the shapes I'd used. Then it was the register and we had to recognise our names. Then we could choose an activity, I chose playdoh and made lots of cats. Then I did a drawing of a cat, it was a good picture so I drew another one. Mrs G thought my drawings were very good. Then it was time for snack time, I had to find my number and go and sit by it. I did that and I counted up to my number on my fingers. I didn't want my snack but had my juice instead. Then it was nearly time to go as aiti had some forms to fill in at the office. I skipped out of my classroom saying that I was very excited to be going again.
There were 7 other girls in my class, we all wore the same clothes which was funny! I am the youngest by about 9months in there.
I start properly in January, I will be going 3 mornings a week for 3 hours at a time.

Some Sophie-isms

"Is it possible to use the potty as I'm desperate for a poo"
"I just poked myself in the eye with my foot.....I was washing myself like a cat, I lick my foot and rub my face"
"yes, it is both annoying and irritating" when aiti told me my baby whingy voice was annoying
"It isn't raining, it is drizzling"
"Not yet, in a minute"
"if I had a panda I could cut it in half so that I'd have two bits of panda.....if I had 2 cheetahs I could cut them in half and I could have 4 bits of cheetah...they couldn't run away then because they'd be cut in half"
"Oooo Tiger is in the window, if he fell out the window there would be 0 Tiger. If 5 tigers sat in the window and fell out, there wouldn't be any tigers left because they'd have run away"
"That is not a ring tailed lemur, it is a red ruffed lemur"
I am getting good at lying too, if I do something silly like hurt Tiger, aiti takes one of my toy cats away and puts it on the shelf. Daddy asks me why there is a cat on the shelf and I usually say "Catty was tired and needed a rest".

A big trip up North!

This weekend I went all the way up North to see my Auntie Cat and Noel. It took us 7.5hours to get there because the traffic was so bad. We went to a great Aquarium and I saw seals and otters, they were very funny swimming around on their backs and diving in the water. We also went to an Open Farm, it was so cold that we didn't see many animals, I played happily in the indoor play area. Auntie Cat also took me swimming, it was quite cold but I had fun, opposite the pool was a library where I read a few books to Noel. I had a really good weekend and had lots of fun. Here are some pictures I drew of the aquarium...

The first picture is of an otter, he is floating on his back with his hands in the air and feet sticking out. I have also drawn his large tail, the writing says 'otter'. My other picture is of a rainbow fish swimming in the sea. I have drawn fins and a tail on it.

I was very excited to see Tiger again, he had been at the Cat Hotel whilst we were away, he meowed very loudly all the way home.

I went to the Creche today and read to the ladies in charge. They didn't know I could read and I hadn't showed them, but today I did! Aiti is delighted as she thinks it means that I am happy and settled there. The ladies at the creche kept saying 'wow' to me and then asked Aiti lots of questions about me!

My first 'chapter' book.

I found a book at the library this week called 'Fat Puss' which I just had to have. It has 5 chapters in it and has 80 pages. Here is a short video of me reading it...

Fat Puss was fat. He had thin little arms, small flat feet,a very short tail and an amazingly fat tummy. What shall I do thought Fat Puss. I cant swim! Soon Fat Puss found that he didn't need to swim. He was floating. And he rolled and he rolled and he rolled all the way down the hill, right to the bottom. So when FP came to the next hill, he rolled down that too. Yippeee, this is fun he cried. Then FP was happy. He didn't mind that the other cats could do the things that he couldn't because at last he had found an exciting thing that he and only he could do!
It has been a busy week again. I managed to sleep in my own bed all night for a week and get enough stars on my reward chart to choose a new small toy. I went to the creche twice this week and had a great time. I also went to play at Emily's house which was fun. I went to my usual "Monkey Music" as well. I only got to swim once this week.

I had a very exciting day on Tuesday! I took Tiger to the vets as he needed his 'furry bits' removed. The vet was very nice and I showed her all my toy cats I'd packed into a cat box and carted into the vets. I showed her my Turkish Van cat, my Siamese, my British Blue Shorthair etc. The vet let me see her new kittens, they were a cross between Bengals and Maine Coons and they were lovely. When we picked Tiger up in the afternoon I asked the vet "where are Tiger's furry bits, what have you done with them?" The furry bits are now at the furry bit shop! I fed Tiger some pretend ham as I thought he might be hungry.
I'm getting my school uniform this weekend and I'm also going to see Sylvie again. We'll also meet another little girl at Sylvie's house. She is coming all the way over from China, which is where pandas and tigers live, to see us.
Oooo, I also did my first 100 piece jigsaw yesterday, I was very proud of myself!

Some stories, a video and a photo!

Here is a story that I told to daddy tonight, I repeated it so that Aiti could type it. I was looking at a set of postcards and just launched into.....

Here is a bit of writing I have been working on all day. I did it all by myself except for the capital B letter in Blue Cat's name. Some bits may be hard to read so.."Mog is in a little dress, Catty met the other Catty, I am funny"

I had a great weekend where I met up with Sylvie again. We went to the National Space Centre, I was a bit disappointed that there weren't any animals there but aiti said I cant see animals all the time. I loved playing with Sylvie, our cats played well together too. I am seeing her again next weekend and am looking forward to it. Here is a short video of Sylvie and I with a Catty, if you listen carefully you'll hear us meowing!

One last thing...if you have made it this far.... a little photo of me in my 'Playschool' clothes. I am practising before I have to wear a school uniform in January.

Cats, cats, cats and some more cats!

I love cats! I have been teaching myself some of the cat breeds. I can name about 25 now including Sphynx, Persian, Norwegian Forest, Maine Coon, Scottish Fold and the tiara wearing 'Sex Kitten'!. I like to tell people all about the different cat breeds, everyone seems sooo interested! I love being a Sphynx cat at home, as they dont have any fur I have to be naked!

I am drawing specific cat breeds...

With the cheetah picture I just copied a picture I'd asked Aiti to draw.

I am also making up cat songs to the tune of 'Baa baa black sheep'...

"Meow, meow Catty Cat, have you any fur, yes cat, yes cat lots of fur, some for my daddy, some for my aiti and some for the little girl called Sophie wophie woo!!"

Here is Catty reading a cat poem called 'Cats sleep Anywhere'- as usual Aiti will put a translation underneath!

Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair. Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge. Open draw, empty shoe, anybody's lap will do. Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks. Anywhere! They don't care! Cats sleep anywhere.

3000 visitors to this blog! This is quite spooky, the person that made the 3000th visit also made the 2000th visit. So to the person who is in Redmond, Washington and works for Microsoft...have a bottle of champagne! I'll give it to you in person in March!

A new breed of cat!

This week I went to the Gym Creche 3 times and all went well. Aiti even got to have a run on the treadmill on Friday! I don't do much in the creche and don't join in anything yet, I prefer to read the books they have.

This week I have wanted to write a lot on the computer. Here are some bits of my writing...

I think most of it is self explanatory. The cat is a Burmese!

At the moment I am trying to learn some breeds of cats. I can recognise about 20 breeds now. I added a new one the other day after a trip to Sainsburys (grocery store). Aiti was browsing the magazines and I was looking at the greeting cards...I like to look for animals on the cards. I found one and took it to show Aiti...."Look Aiti, this cat is a Sex Kitten".

Some news!

What a busy week I've had! Mummy joined a Gym a few weeks ago that has a creche attached. Last week I went 3 times for 20mins and cried the whole time. This week I have been twice and haven't cried at all, I have even enjoyed myself! Mummy has now left me for 45mins, she is looking forward to using the gym equipment soon rather than drinking coffee!

I was also very good the other day when I spent the whole day with Val and Michael. I was dropped off at 12pm and picked up 8 hours later. I had a lovely time with them and now keep wanting to go back to play and draw.
Speaking of drawings, here is one that I did the other day for Val. It is a gibbon swinging in a tree...in a jungle!
I love to draw at the moment. I've also recently, thanks to Emily, started doing jigsaws again. It has been over a year since I really did any properly. I am now looking at the pictures and piecing the jigsaw together that way instead of just memorizing where the pieces went! I was doing 48pc jigsaws (without help) when I was 18months old. Yesterday I did a 60pc jigsaw which is my biggest yet.

I went to Marwell zoo again at the weekend, it was great. I saw so many of my favourite animals. I even asked a zoo keeper a question..."can lemurs swim?". They cant swim very well as their fur is very thick so they sink quickly...a fact I keep reminding mummy of! I loved the Ocelots, they were so lovely. Here is a picture of me at the zoo.

Some new writing and a video

Here is a piece of writing that I did today. I typed it with a paintbrush. Aiti told me how to spell THE and she added the speech marks in to make it more readable! It says... Daddy cat said 'meow' Aiti monkey said 'o o o' Mummy meerkat said 'fall over' Mummy monkey said 'o o o' Daddy monkey said 'o o o' The lemur went swing.

Here is a short video of me just playing today. Aiti has put a translation so that you can understand me.

His stripes have disappeared. He ran too fast. His neck’s disappeared…he ate too many leaves. Um, yes…he ate too much red ice-cream. Grey now…well, ihe’s got a sore paw, look, its got dirt on it. His tail broke as well… he fell over lots of times and it still hurts. Now him now, baby monkey..his paw broke. They don’t have paws. He splashed in some puddles and he didn’t like, it had got leaves in it. Now his turn, he has a little red scratch on. His udders broke, he tickled him under the tummy.
