The Urban Beach

Sophie:
We had a very busy day today. It started off with the morning of my sleepover with Emily. After Emily went home we got in the car and drove over to see Lorraine and Mary for lunch. I had fun cooking the lunch and serving it up. After lunch we did a few caches before heading to town to buy my school shoes. I have gone up a full size to size 10. Mummy refused to buy the shoes I really wanted, so I ended up with the same style as last year.
We then did some more caching around town, before doing a bit more shopping in the bookshop. I got 3 new books and Mummy got one for our holiday. We then had an hour to wait until Daddy met us so we had a wander...and discovered a beach! It was in the middle of the shopping centre! Theo and I played for ages until Daddy arrived and took us for dinner at Waggamamas.

Theo:
I've been put on reins. I keep wandering off or running away. Apparently I shouldn't just wander into any old shop or touch everything that looks interesting. I liked the beach, the sand tasted good!

Planning a sleepover

Sophie:
Today, in the car, I planned the sleepover I was going to have with my friend Emily. My handwriting is a bit messy as I wrote this in the car.
List one: Activities

club, drawing, writing, reading, dancing, singing, going to school (playing), racing, skipping, tidying, caching, quiet time, vets, hair-dressing, lie-in, roses and thorns, gardening, weeding, making, nest-making, doctors

List 2: Bad Stuff

Bad Stuff: hitting, pushing, slapping, pinching, upsetting, shouting, licking, fighting, arguing, spitting, crying, touching the oven, being angry, stroppy, swearing, slumping, picking flowers.

List 3: What do we need to do

I want these ones

Theo: I wanted these jeans but Mummy wouldn't buy them...she doesn't like babies wearing jeans, yes, she is odd. I found these jeans in Next and carried them round the whole time we were in the shop. I cried when Mummy put them back on the rack. I did get new socks though.

A trip to Devon and Cornwall

Sophie:
We had a very long drive earlier this week as we went to see our friends S & P. Once we'd unpacked I helped P to make pizza dough. S arrived home from work so we took their dog for a walk...which happened to be in a forest where some geocaches were hidden. We showed S & P how to do geocaching; I think they enjoyed it.
After a walk, we went back and finished making the pizzas- I had olives and ham on mine. I then had to go to bed.
The next morning we went to the Eden Project. We had so much fun there. I want to go back with Daddy and show him all the things I saw.
Once we got back from the Eden Project, P took us to the beach which was brilliant. We had the beach almost to ourselves. I ran, span and threw stones in the sea for Ripley to fetch. I slept well that night.
Our last morning involved a walk on the edge of Dartmoor and then another trip to the beach where both Theo and I got very wet and sandy....and naked! We then drove home after a Cornish Pasty lunch.
We had a brilliant time and we'll be back to see S and P soon.

Theo:
I found a new toy...a feather duster. It didn't leave my side. I like dogs, but dogs aren't keen on my fingers up their nostrils. I went to the beach and ate sand. I went to the Eden Project and ate soil and plants.

Words

"I'm going to write Theo a list of words...good words and bad words, you know, those words that I'm not allowed to say until I'm 18....(ponders)...there are 4 bad words beginning with B".

"The Goblins in The Hobbit are different to those in the Rainbow Fairy books; they look different and they don't do so many silly things"

Mummy wrote down some instructions to get to Devon; she was struggling to remember where to go...she'd lost the piece of paper, so I helped
"Go past F---- House on the right, go over 2 little bridges, one.....two..... look for the E----- sign and turn right near the grass".
Thankfully we arrived thanks to me!

Here we are having a few races against each other!

Memory

Sophie:
My memory has always been good, here are two examples of it...

S: Do you remember when we last went to Amber's house?
Mummy: er, why?
S: Do you remember that we drove along the road to (local village)
Mummy: er
S: it was when Daddy didn't have his job and we passed him in the car by the tree with huge branches, he didn't see us so didn't wave
Mummy: er....
S: It was a Thursday

Mummy checked the photos from the last time we were at Amber's house- yes it was a Thursday...18 months ago!

S: You know my class had their coffee morning
Mummy: which coffee morning?
S: The one on the 22nd January 2010 at 10.30 in the morning
Mummy: (pretending) oh yes, that one, what about it....

When I was very little (age 18 months) I could remember where every piece of a 48pc jigsaw could go, I then learnt to read around the same age and just remembered the words- reading was easy to learn because I could memorise words easily!

Going, going, gone!

Camping weekend

This weekend we all went camping again. Mummy learnt quite a good new lesson in that 'never put up a brand new tent without reading the instructions, and never attempt to put up a tent single handedly whilst juggling a fast moving boy'.
Once the tent was up and we were fed, Daddy arrived!
We had a great weekend. We did some caching (20 new ones- see other blog), went to the beach, ate ice cream, cycled, went to the forest, ate more ice-cream, watched wild ponies, climbed some trees and ate some more ice-cream! We also took in a quick lunch at a tea rooms and had a look round their gardens.

Some caching

We have now found 328 caches. Tonight we released a few Travel Bugs into some local caches. Our caching this evening involved quite a lot of cows, lots of peas and an electric shock!

Here are Theo and I watching the cows watching us:

Here I am eating peas from the nearby field:

Mummy got an electric shock from a farm fence. She tried it first and it was ok, then she put the buggy over the fence, leant on the fence and SHOCK. She swore.

Expensive tastes

Yep, that is a very large salmon fillet that I ate all by myself! I did share a bit with Theo, but not much! Please excuse Percy eating some of Daddy's! Dinner also included potatoes and broccoli grown in the garden.

A soft pillow of garlic bread

I'm not really a fan of napping in the day. In the week I tend to take one nap a day. Some days this nap is very short and I end up very tired by dinner time. I'd eaten my spaghetti bolognese and was chewing on some garlic bread when I suddenly felt the need to sleep...so I did!

Mummy learns a lesson

Theo:
Mummy has become a bit lazy about taking spare clothes for me when we go out. This literally backfired on her tonight. We were at a nice restaurant when I decided that a poo was in order. I'd eaten the best part of half a punnet of blueberries the day before so the results were explosive. As Mummy, Daddy and Sophie finished their dinner, I chewed on some chips wearing nothing but a nappy (diaper)!

Pottering round the garden

Theo-
Here I am having a wander round the garden. Please excuse the long grass, the weeds and the uneven ground!

Monday, 12 July 2010

Sophie:
This weekend Mummy and I ran the Race for Life charity run; all the monies raised will go towards Cancer Research . We had to run 3 miles with 2500 other girls and women. I ran nearly all the way (I walked for 100 yards). I finished the race in 41mins30secs. I got lots of comments from the other runners, they all said I was very little but very fast! I was very tired at the end, but very pleased with my medal. I took my medal to school to show my friends and teachers. One of Mummy's friends is very ill right now so we ran with her name on our pink race number.

Feeding myself

Theo:
I'm trying very hard to feed myself.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Sophie:
This is my new favourite book. Every night Daddy reads a chapter to me, then, when he goes downstairs, I carry on reading ahead of him! We finished this book a few nights ago, so now we are reading Prince Caspian. Last night Daddy read 2 chapters, then I read another 2.5 in my head!

A quote from me:
"you know Aslan...he sort of died and then came back to life again...that's a bit like Jesus"

First Camping Trip

Theo:
This weekend I went camping for the first time ever. I've only just stopped having milk in the middle of night so this was a factor in why I haven't been camping sooner. I had a good time though I did find it odd going to sleep in the light and waking up when it got light. I slept fairly well though.

Sophie:
I had a great weekend camping. We also went caching and we did loads! We did 30 caches on Saturday and then today we did 27 more. We now have 300 caches in total!

Caching!

Sophie:
We added another 17 caches to our total today. We are now up to 241 caches! Today we did part of a long series. We walked 5.5miles in the very hot weather. I was very tired by the end but had fun.

Theo:
My new buggy (called BOB) is just excellent. It can go over anything because it has huge wheels, has fab suspension, has lots of pockets and is very comfortable. Thank you, Debbie!

A trip to the Theme Park

Sophie:
I have been working really hard on some online things recently. Mummy and Daddy said I could have a special treat for trying hard; I picked a theme park!
We arrived early and went straight to a water ride. Daddy and I got very wet, I then went on the same ride with Mummy. I then went on a spinning roller coaster with Daddy whilst Theo tried out a mini ride. We went through a dinosaur park, went to the water park, went on the biggest water slide I've ever seen...I went on this many many times.
One of the scariest, but most fun rides was a big roller coaster. I had to be 110cm for the ride...I'm not 110cm yet but I stood very tall and was allowed on the ride. We went up and up and up; then I thought we were going to fall off the edge of the ride many times, then we went super fast up and down, round and round. Mummy said some naughty words; I didn't scream because I was braver than Mummy!

Theo:
I had fun in the water park, the little kiddie rides, the boat rides and the bouncy castles.
